Transience

2018 | Klanglicht, Graz Austria | Murinsel

“Panta rhei” is an ancient philosophical phrase ascribed to Heraclitus meaning “all flows”. Everything is ever-changing, like a river, and a man can never step into the same river twice. Transience is an expression of this philosophy. It is based on the flow of the river Mur and nested in the Murinsel’s architecture that so greatly honours the fluency of the river. Sounds from under the Mur’s surface are captured live, and translated real-time into a light and sound composition that travels through the island. Just like the river continuously changes, the light and sound composition is never the same.

Transience is created by Philip Ross and Joep le Blanc for Klanglicht 2018, Graz Austria.
