Barriere at Leipzig Festival of Lights 2024

Barriere is about borders and separations. It was conceived for the Leipzig Festival of Lights 2024. This festival commemorates the Peaceful Revolution of Oct 9 1989, when 70.000 people, locked behind the Iron Curtain, protested peacefully for freedom and democracy. With Barriere, I aimed to give people the experience of breaking through a barrier together. Individually, you can push against the columns of light and make them move. But only when people work together, the barrier can be broken.
