A Cities’ Guide to Smart Lighting

2022 | A White Paper co-written with the LUCI Association

The White Paper A Cities’ Guide to Smart Lighting aims to help cities deal with the questions why and how behind Smart Lighting. I was lead author of this White Paper and co-wrote it with Smart Lighting professionals from eight EU cities & utilities, with input of an expert panel from the EU, USA and Asia, and the wider LUCI community.

LUCI is non-profit organisation bringing together over 70 member towns and cities worldwide that use light as a tool for social, cultural and economic development.

The LUCI White Paper working group consisted of: Helene Qvist (City of Albertslund), Kevin McCormack (Glasgow City Council), Jean-Pierre Hollevoet (Fluvius), Olli Markkanen (City of Helsinki), Zoltan Pap (BDK Budapest Public Lighting), Rik van Stiphout (City of Eindhoven), Nikita Junagade (LUCI). With input of Mark Burton-Page (LUCI).

The international panel of experts consisted of: Leni Schwendinger (International Nighttime Design Initiative), Henrika Pihlajaniemi (University of Oulu), Youngho Baik (Advisory Committee Urban Lighting Seoul) and Christophe Orceau (Kurrant Consulting), prof. dr. ir. Peter-Paul Verbeek (University of Twente) and Terje Rygh (City of Stavanger).

The white paper is an initiative of the LUCI Association and part of the Interreg NWE SMART-SPACE project.
