Pythia

light and video storytelling object

Pythia is a light and image object that allows Eindhoven University of Technology to tell its story to its community. It is located prominently in the main hall of the newly renovated Atlas building. Like Atlas, Pythia’s name originates from Greek mythology, where Pythia is a high priest that transfers wisdom from the light god Apollo to the people. Thirteen state-of-the-art curved OLED screens display moving images, and segmented RGBW LED lines create dynamic plays of light on the characteristic concrete ceiling. Both halves can be independently controlled in height, so that a large variety of functions is achieved, ranging from a centrepiece to a dynamic backdrop for exhibitions. Pythia is designed by Philip Ross and TeamV architects. I also lead the programming committee in collaboration with the university.
